Seller said: I have a very hard to find 1986 Subaru Leone. It is a 5 speed and it is 4X4, It has the 2 speed Hi/Low range transfer case. Has power locks, power mirrors, power windows, great working heat, and WORKING A/C!! It blows extremely cold. Its in great shape for its age. it only has 122k miles and interior has no rips or anything. It has the 1.8L EA82 flat 4 engine with an upgraded weber 32/36 Carb. Custom exhaust, straight piped with just a resonator so its not very loud, but sounds pretty good. It has height adjustable coilovers (currently maxed up) It has hill hold, so when you have the clutch pressed in you can let off the brake pedal and it will hold you in place on a hill until you let the clutch out. 4X4 engages perfectly every time. In 4Low it has the torque to get anywhere you want. It has viscous LSD front and rear with a 3.90 diff ratio There is nothing mechanically wrong with it. Its in very good shape for its age. Its a great off road wagon. Because of its light weight (curb is 2,300lbs), it never gets stuck. I have yet to find somewhere it couldn't go (Other than ridiculous mud pits) I Rhino Lined the wheels, wheel wells, most of the under-body, and the lower half of the car from the side molding down. It is really tough, prevents rust, and looks cool. There have only been 2 previous owners, the first owner sold it in 2000 with 96,000 miles, and i got the car with 120,00 miles. Now for the bad: The radio is currently out, and i have yet to wire up the new one i have. Its an old carburated 1.8L 4 cylinder, so it is not very fast. it has about 90hp Its 26 years old, so some of the window motors are getting slow. They work, but they are a little slow. the rear hatch shocks don't hold up the rear lift gate The electric choke from the new carb interferes with the power steering reservoir, so i pulled off the reservoir. I might just pull off the choke and make it manual so i can have power steering again. With the new carb, it got rid of almost all of the vacuum lines, so under the hood has a lot of blocked off vacuum lines. It doesn't affect anything, it just doesn't look the greatest The tires are a little out of balance, so it vibrates at driving speed. Nothing dangerous at all, its just slightly irritating if you're going a long distance The fuel level sensor needs a new float. Overall it is a great car, its reliable and can easily be driven for a long time without doing anything to it. None of the "Bads" about the car affect the reliability of this car. Many people go for over 250k miles on these cars. The car will be cleaned before sold. I just took those pics right after i pulled out my friends truck from the mud. And i can hook up the radio and power steering if the buyer would like me to. And if you want to buy the fuel float and rear gate shocks i can replace those too.

Reminds me of our '88 GL wagon with 4x4. Fun high school car...

Whats the difference between this and a GL wagon? I thought that Leone was was just the same thing with a different name for other markets?

I was going to ask the same thing as it looks stringingly similar.. Wikipedia says: ":Although released in Japan and some export markets as the Leone, for many years, [....], in major markets such as Australia, Europe and North America, it was instead identified with a trim level designation, some of which included: DL, GL, GLF, GLF5, GL-10, and RX. This means the car is often referred to simply as the Subaru GL or the Subaru L-Series." So probably just the same thing for a while. it goes on, "By 1990 the Leone name continued to be used in Japan but was now known as the Loyale in the United States and Canada [....]. The popularity of the Leone wagon was ceded to the new, larger, Legacy wagon in 1989 and was ultimately replaced by the Impreza in 1994. The Impreza was introduced with a 'hatch like' wagon which was reminiscent of the first and second generation Leone wagons."

So a bit smaller than the legacy. though it doesn't look it.
