This belongs to a buddy of mine. He's looking to sell it, but doesn't really know what it's worth. Feel free to either suggest a value/what he should ask for it, or post if you're interested and I can put you in touch with him. I'll link him to this thread as well. I think the vehicle is located in the Washington DC area (at least, that's where he lives, so I assume it's around here).

You didn't say if 4wd or not. But 20 years old, high mileage, mechanical issues, I feel safe in saying $1200 obo is the most I'd try and sell it for. I saw on the rally cross group where you said he wanted a few thousand, I do not see that happening under any circumstance, but that's just me. If he wants a starting place take it in to carmax.

It's 4wd, I see the shifter lever on the floor. I'd give him $1500 for it.

The last gen K5s are starting to come up in value...especially the diesels and ones with manual transmissions. That one with the miles and TLC needed is probably a 1500-2500 rig though.

In reply to Bobzilla: Josh put this on the forum for me. If you're serious about wanting it for $1500, let me know and I can give you any additional information about this ride. Thanks, Chris.

That's a hard to find 2 door base model. (Roll up windows and sealed beam headlamps) Looks solid and you don't get those kind of miles by lack of care. Should be a good buy for someone.

I'm not sure where you guys live but I also live in the DC metro and I've seen several of this body style blazer/suburban on craigslist for around $1200 with problems that seem relatively minor. One was a 1998 chevy suburban motor ran, could hear run, transmission was bad and needed replaced. 1500 then 1200 then 1000 then 800 and at 800 it said if no one buys this week then it will be scrapped, and I saw it sitting at the scrap yard when I went in, with its glossy, shiny paint, dent free body panels, alloy wheels with newer all terrain tires... it hurt pretty bad to see that. I watched them pick it up with a grapple and load it into the crusher. Not sure why but the GM suv's seem to get no love around here.
the blazer looks nice though, and doesn't sound like it has anything major wrong. hopefully you'll have better luck. I also like the 2 doors, they are harder to find. so maybe I'm way low on my estimate.
