Short Version For Sale: 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sport, Forest Green, 119,452 miles, 4.0, 5 spd, 4x4 all works, 32x11.5 BFG all terrains in good shape, updated to full stock Rubicon suspension, Optima Red Top battery, never had AC. It was a daily driver since new. I’m not sure if the rear diff is open or not. Based on the places I’ve seen this Jeep go, a rear LSD would not surprise me. DELIVERY AVAILABLE for cost of fuel. LONG VERSION On March 4, 2012, a friend of mine committed suicide…in his Jeep…in his girlfriend’s driveway. The next morning I got a call from my parents, informing me of the previous night’s circumstances. The girlfriend and the dead guy’s parents asked me to just take the Jeep away. Just get it out of their sight and do whatever I want with it. I was the right guy for the job: not squeamish about death, not squeamish around blood, and I have a car-hauler! So with a hard swallow I agreed, a headed outside to couple the trailer. When I got there I had no idea what to expect. It turns out that the body was gone but ALL of the mess remained inside. I won’t go into detail any further. So after hooking up the jump pack I lined the interior with garbage bags and hopped in to move it onto the trailer. Sure enough, the brake pedal went right to the floor. Great, no brakes. It made me think: maybe if bleeding brakes by yourself wasn’t such a PITA, he might not have done it. So I got the rig loaded without incident and got it home, where with the help of my better half, took to gutting and sanitizing the interior. It is now down to bare bones…and sanitary. So now I’ve got this sweet 2000 Wrangler that must find a new home, preferably out of the state of Vermont. There is a bit of a hang up with the title. The girlfriend has since decided she wants the Jeep back. She has no legal means for this. The title was never in her name, and DMV (and a lawyer) have confirmed that power of attorney goes to the parents on death unless specifically otherwise stated. So I can sell it without a title for an off-road rig project foundation, or for a parts rig. I can get the title, it just means dragging the parents through more carp than I care to. They would have to fill out a duplicate title form, explaining what happened. Then the title would arrive in a few weeks in their dead son’s name, which they would then sign over to me. Also, I’m willing to do whatever work is required to make it a palatable deal for the buyer. That means, I’m willing to install a new interior, or take care of the myriad of small upkeep items it could use. These upkeep items include: needs right-front brake line, needs windshield (cracked from tree in the woods), needs driver side mirror, the horizontal part of the front fenders are rusty and nasty (they should either be replaced or just cut off for wheeling), needs a top (I could not clean the inside of the top that is on it to satisfaction, but it does not leak).
