I am selling my Subaru WRX with 150,086 miles. I blew a head gasket last week and have decided to sell the vehicle. Outside of this issue, the car runs very well. It has been driven as my main car every day and has a valid inspection until June 2014. I spent over $1,800 last month on new Good Year Eagle GT tires as well as new starter and axel assembly. There is some minor cosmetic damage to the front drivers side of the car (see photos). This would be the perfect car for someone who has the knowledge to fix a head gasket, or at the very least there is a ton of money in parts alone. She runs great and I am sad to see her go.
Awesome deal for someone who could stand a slushbox.

That's an EXCEEDINGLY rare color on WRX's from what i've seen.....
Wtf is up with all the cheap WRX wagons being up north?
Weird. Buddy's ex has a bugeye wrx wagon that same color.
how hard is a fix like this? I guess a manual swap is not that bad from quick reading..
Headgaskets? easy? just lots of time...
Tryin to see if i should get his things and have it be MY DD
Honestly for true dd appliance I wouldn't mind an autotragic. Project car did a series on an auto WRX build. Something to be said for press the pedal on the right and go.
Yeah, I would be all over it if it were closer. The aftermarket treats slushbox scoobys really well!

My nephew had an '05 with the automatic and I didn't hate it.
He has mail.

My wife just called me on her way into work and said, "Why don't you just drive down to New Jersey today and get that car?"

Takes about 90min to change the plugs on one of these, so I don't expect pulling two heads will be a quick fix either.

That's when you said, "I love you", right? You got a good thing going.

Because they're rather common up here? Being the snow-belt and all...

I test drove a brand new 2003 WRX with the automatic and it was utterly terrible to drive around town. Put your foot down, nada . What seemed like about 1.5 seconds later, boost arrived at just the same time the trans finally decided to downshift, so you go from "WTF? Did this thing quit?" to BONK waaaaaaah ... yet it never really seemed to accelerate with any authority.
By contrast the 2001 SAAB 9-3 turbo with an automatic I test drove around the same time seemed lag-free and torquey.
The 5 auto is worlds better than the 4 speed. However you need to put them in "sport" mode to make them tolerable, otherwise dukes experience is common.
IT'S SOLD!!!! did someone get here

60-90 minutes to get the engine out, 3 hours or so to put it back in, and four hours or so of cleaning and other boring headgasket stuff in the middle. Pile of cake.
