im looking for a good home for my 62 corvair. she needs work, mostly in the floors..it has a flat 6 80/84 hp engine and automatic powerglide transmission..this car was running up to 1992, motor and tansmission were taken out for rebuild, and is now a stalled restoration..this car has solid rockers, doors, fenders, trunk and engine lids, NO DENTS body in really good shape with two small spots of rust, all trim and glass, good bumpers, original am radio, and instrument cluster.. these cars are very rare with less than 5000 remaining out of over 1 million made in its 10 year run..it would be a nice car to finish and take to car shows or to give to a kid at tech school.. contact me via e mail..thanks !!

Challenge idea????

It would be $2017 IF we were to consider it. We already have a $2015 and (2) '16 projects planned.

The $2016 primary car is 45-50% of the way to completion and is Calvin's project. Unfortunately he can not attend (in '15) during the college school year. The second '16 car is owned and parts are being collected. It is the planned home for the 4.8 engine from Patgiz.

Our $2015 car is 25-30% complete and behind schedule as we are building a new LSR car. At some point we want to bring the Black Bug back. We will wait for the day when the whole family can compete (after the boys complete college)....that car has a special place in our family history....and it has unfinished business.... . Hard to believe the boys were in 4th and 6th grade when we first showed up and next year the oldest will have his Masters and the young gun a Bachelors.....time flies.

Checked the car out today...It's worth putting together. Rough...but it would be chopped out for what I want regardless.

I need some help from a Connecticut resident. How can I (non-CT resident) get a Q-1 Form (Supplemental Authorizationof Ownership Form) to legitimize/legalize the transfer of the car to me in PA?

OE Front seats weigh 46 lbs each. IIRC the rear seat, if it's the fold-down style, weighs 73 lbs complete.

That's actually good news. What doesn't sell will be scrapped.....so heavy is gooood!

BTW, is $100 a good offer for the engine? Or should I hold out?

Right.

But you were also posting here at 4 AM.

Which, by itself, is not that strange. I've done it too.

But you were getting a response. I may make a random post at an odd time, but I have no expectation of conversations happening at 4 AM.

In reply to wheels777:

IMO $100 is top friggin' dollar for that engine. unless it's a '64-'69 which has the longer stroke crank and may be worth $200 as a rebuildable core. there's a code stamped on teh top surface of the engine case, right by the fuel pump. the letter T followed by 4 numbers and then two letters. need to know what the two letters are.

where the top shroud meets the case, in front of the fuel pump.

$100 was based on an eBay auction for a block and crank that was $80. Should be sold tomorrow morning.

ZH is the letter code.

Andrew,

If the "JF ME" plates are still on the Corvair, I would be happy to send you $10 for it.

Thanks,

John
