I'm sure the Buick made it's torque much lower in the RPM range though - peak HP for a '53 was at 3600rpm
Yeah, a '37 Straight 8 isn't going to be more powerful in any meaningful way than a 4.6 mod motor. I'm willing to bet that the 4.6 powered car is faster accelerating at all speeds and more fuel efficient and more reliable. Whether that's worth the non-original tradeoff is up to the vehicle's owner.
