I think it's cool too!
I would so drive that thing...

And they rusted so fast, you'd think you were looking at a 'transporter' scene in a Star Trek episode....
These used the same "basic" engine that same year MG-Bs used, but DETUNED via a single carb versus the B's twin carbs. Therefore, these could, conceiveable, be made a bit faster but then you are stuck with a car that doesn't handle. I don't remember seeing all that many of these when they were new, really, only 1 or 2. They were cheap, but folks usually bought the "old" VW beetle for about the same money back then. Even the British thought they were CRAP CARS when new.
BTW, these looked like they were hatchbacks...but weren't.
At least this one doesn't have the dreadful B-W automatic that a lot of Marinas were sold with.
If I were a British autoworker in the 1970s, forget better wages and working conditions, I'd have gone on strike just so I wouldn't have to look at these every day. What a depressing lump of misery. And yes, I want it.
I think the only extra fee is for the camera crew
This thing has been in the back of my mind all day- dual carbs on the engine no problem, I wonder how it would react to a turbo...

Now you are on to something!
They already make the t-shirts:
Team names "Steinway Racing", or maybe "Top Smear"?
It should be rear wheel drive
I wonder if there is a nod for the team that gets lapped the most?

Man, if I diodn't have the SAAB I'd be all over this, Top Gear be damnd. My father used to have Marina TC's as company cars back in the 70's. Went off a 50 foot embankment in one in scotland and lived to tell the tale.
It got bad press that it didn't deserve. It's a great car to drive every day. I have driven mine to Daytona, Richmond, VA, and Dallas to mention a few places.
Welcome marinaman; I love that about this forum, people register to give their favorite car a shot in the arm and hopefully stick around to add to the general knowledge!
