Was Fiat still selling these by '85?
Anyway, supposedly rust-free, running X1/9 in CA. Although this quote plus salvage title makes me skeptical overall: This car has no rust and no accident damage .There is a some light damage to left side door and the front area of quarter panel in front of left front wheel.

After 82 Bertone was selling them then, so it should be titled as a Bertone.

Makes it harder to search for though.

Damned things are built incredibly tough, so I'd not worry about the salvage title too much after a good inspection.

Nice, I went off to Google as well after posting; I knew that they ended up re-badged as Bertone, but didn't realize that they stayed on til 89. Learn something every day!

Way too far away for me, but I figured at a low buy-in it could make a good car for somebody on here. Thinking about the title, it probably doesn't take much of a bump to 'total' an older car at this point.

I don't think the black decklid is original, but I'm pretty sure that the black and red two tone was a factory color combo.

In reply to XLR99:

Maybe the damage wasn't accidental...

Like a less dramatic version of this?

Amazing how much shows up when you google 'girlfriend wrecks car' . Not very uncommon.

In reply to trucke: Yep, mine is a '85. Big-assed ugly bumpers were a "no-cost option" that year, which was apparently required. photo IMG_20131006_164142_566_zpsd70ab87f.jpg

Black deck lid standard on X1/9. Timing belt already done which is good, as it is a mother to change.

Look up the Mittlestead bumper mod and find a set of older dual-rail bumpers.

Basically it entails dropping one of the rails, mounting it slightly lower with new holes in the bumper brackets, and trimming the rubber end caps.

Some have fitted marker/signal lights in the end caps to further cleanup the front end.
