I bought this car to use as a beater, but it may be just a bit much for me to take on. It runs strong and drives ok, but it would need more work to be a good DD then I want to put into it. Maybe you're willing to do it, or maybe you need a challenge or LeMons car. Either way.....
The Good Stuff:
The engine runs really well. No smoke, no noise, PO says no oil useage. The transmission shifts well, but the gate to get the shifter all the way right so 5th can be engaged is a bit tight. NOT 5th gear itself, just the reverse lockout gate. The body is in decent shape: the left fender is dented and that's about it. All glass is good. All gauges work. Even the cruise control works! I also suspect the A/C may blow cold. The compressor cycles normally and the defroster is working very well. The PO says it was cold this past summer. FWIW anyway. Interior is pretty good, except for left bolster for drivers' seat (must be a Honda thing). Suspension feels pretty good.
The Bad Stuff
Long list here. Paint is gawd-awful. GAWD-AWFUL with some areas primered and some minor surface rust. Power steering is disconnected. Clutch is failing. It can be driven anywhere you need to right now, but it will need to be replaced soon. Hmmm. Let's sell...... The drivers window regulator is bad, so the window is held up with a wooden wedge. The sunroof is there and doesn't leak, but I'm either too scared or too intelligent to try to open it. You make the call on that one. Wheels and tires are the wrong size: 14" steel instead of 13" alloys, with cheep 75 or 70 series tires. Or both. VERY VERY DIRTY! If you're thinking about a LeMons car, the before pics will really impress the judges! PGM-FI light comes on sometimes. Maybe just because the battery is dead. Oh, yeah. Dead battery. And one or both axles are causing a shimmy when accelerating. And.... that about sums it up.
So, what we have here is a beater that needs some work, or a driveable parts car, or a pretty good start to a LeMons car that would be fast and not get you assessed with penalty laps. I had one of these that I raced on the round tracks for several years and they are quick. I'd post pics, but if you can picture an '87 Prelude with horrid red paint, you've got it. $450 as it is. Bring a battery or I'll help push start the car. Seriously, I would't be afraid to drive the car on a 500 mile trip. The only real concern I have is the axle vibration, and that only shows up when accelerating.
