Uncle Will's Tip-O-The-Day...
Any ad that mentions a "rare" aftermarket turbo kit that was so screwed-up, that the owner begins to "improve", running away is not enough!!!
The fact that the ad has no pix whatsoever of the engine-bay is even more reason to just hop on the back of the nearest zombie and get the Hell outta there!!!
Well, that photo could not have been taken any time in the past week or so.
I'd yank the Porsche lump and install an Audi one. I've been collecting Audi engines, there may be a spare one to use...
Hm.
I like how the driver's seat is all ripped up and the interior is listed as "good"
If I had the spare cash/empty garage I would defiantly be looking at it
It's LS Motor Swap Time! It's LS Motor Swap Time! It's LS Motor Swap Time!
LS Motor, LS Motor, LS Motor inareallylightcar!

It already has an Audi engine. That's what came in the 924's, right up til the 924S in '87, '88. And that car was really just a 944 with a 924 body on it.
The price on this one has been tanking in the past few weeks. It also appears to have 944 body panels. It just looks weird.
Anyone else thinking that "rare aftermarket turbo kit" is actually one of those generic $300 eBay turbo kits that doesn't fit anything properly?
Now I am getting interested...The guy selling says it's 40 miles from his house and that there is no visible rust. Anyone know where these things get rusty at?
The battery box, down the firewall, and through the floorboard on the passenger's side, possibly eating through the unibody rail.
I was given a free '77 924 once and that's what was wrong with it. Well, besides the seized engine, shot shift linkage and trashed interior.
As a side note: A complete 924 will fit inside the back of a 1/2-ton Chevy truck - with topper - after using about 4 sawzall blades on it.
Okay, actively searching for a place to store this car, now. Unit storage across the street wants $150/mo for a 10x20.

Where are you located? I have space at my shop outside of Bowling Green if you just need to store it for the winter or something.
I mean permanent-wise. I have two cars already and I have on-street parking at home, and parking on the street during school hours is an instant tow and impound. For now, I can keep one at work, but one means ONE.
Well, "permanent" is a pretty long time... But the space is available at least until summer, and it's a helluva lot cheaper than a storage unit.
Just throwjn' it out there.
Its probably the BAE turbo kit which runs the exhaust manifold right over the top of the alternator with the RayJay turbo between the radiator and the engine. Its snug to say the least.
Leverages the stock CIS system and no intercooler.
Also RayJay's aren't exactly common to repair.
A simple T3/T4 adapter will gain you the turbo mentioned in the ad. Engine itself is plenty stout (used as a diesel motor in the a VW euro van) and woefully low on compression ratio, perfect for boosts (aside from the CIS limitation and the lack of intercooling)

BTW, a 77 should have the Audi-based 4-speed which can be replaced with a later 5-speed Audi-based transaxle from another 924 non-turbo (the 944 and 924 turbo changed spline diameters requiring a Torque Tube and clutch disc change) along with the 5-speed shift linkage. A buddy bought a running/driving 77 924 in Vancouver Canada for $1500 and drove it to Portland and back. He found it a very fun car and much more "lively" and less serious than his 924 Turbo and has fallen in love with it, like a small terrier. Heh.
