NMNA $1200

GT Cruiser drivetrain would be cheaper, actually. Just a bit harder to find a stick I think.
The newer 2.4L turbo drivetrain is much better than the older stuff and is nearly a complete bolt-in. Its a bit of a no-brainer, IMO.
Though if you can find a K-car convertible turbo from a little old lady that only drove to church, etc. You can probably get a deal, but it will be less strong and equipped with an automatic, etc. easier swap though.

I thought swapping stuff into an L-body was way more difficult because of the different axles (narrower track?)
Turbo Dodge engines can be had on the cheap, but the better transmissions can command a little more. Still cheaper than a lot of other stuff.
One option is to build a newer style 2.4L like the ones that come in the SRT-4/GT Cruiser. You can slap one together from off-the-shelf parts and junkyard parts pretty affordably. I was thinking of going this route with my CSX someday.
And Rampages are cool!
Just use the 90 Omni automatic axles as they'll have the proper splines and lengths.
They fit in 1st-gen Neons and they are essentially 2nd gen Omni's (the steering racks interchange for example)
All issues that can be solved with proper parts sourcing, but certainly not as easy as the larger K-based cars.

Yikes.
Even though I have my winter truck, I'm still interested...
I still kind of regret that I bought the El Camino when I did such that I didn't jump at the Rampage that came up at auction less than a week later. Sure, the El Camino is way larger and more powerful- but the Rampage would have been DONE years ago and actually useful instead of having moved less than 100 feet under its own power since I've owned it like the El Camino.
Here's a couple more on the left coast if anyone is interested:

I'd heard that too, but for this year- if it wasn't there, perhaps it will be next year when I will hopefully FINALLY have the El Camino there as well.
I remember my stepmother inheriting one from her aunt or something that was nearly rusted to pieces. It was less of a Rampage and more of a half-hearted hissy fit.
Come to think of it I don't think it was ever licensed and legally driven on the street. It was a manual transmission and that was my first exposure to burning clutch smell.
