Is anyone looking for a nice 1973 Mercury Capri V6 and four speed transmission assembly? Was running good when removed from the MG Midget that it was installed in.

If you want to install it in your own MG Midget, I also have the modified pedal cluster (to clear the trans tunnel,) the brake master, shortened drive shaft, and transmission tunnel with extra firewall and floor sheet metal for easier installation. I pretty much got the whole forward section of the interior tub as I didn't want to end up short when doing the installation.

If you want, I also have a new clutch disk, clutch cable (the set-up uses the original Capri cable linkage, and a new water pump. These aren't needed, but they're not too easy to find when they ARE needed, so I bought them while I had the chance.

Engine/trans/etc is located on the Southern coast of Massachusetts, about three miles north of Plymouth Rock. Pick up only, obviously.

Like to get just $500 for the engine/trans. All the rest is free if you want it. Pretty much a "kit" for installing it in a Midget or Sprite. Most of the parts and pieces could be modified to work in an MGA/MGB/Spitfire as well.

Post your response here as my incoming message connection just doesn't work for whatever reason.

Thanks—

TC

I miss my '73 2600. Loved that car. For the BHP increase that is sick cheap.

I originally bought it to fit into my Austin A35 since the Austin originally came with essentially a Midget/Sprite engine and trans. As this V6 package came out of a Midget, I thought that it may well be a near bolt-in for the Austin.

I failed to take into account the steering set-up in the Austin however. It's got a steering box and a cross shaft that runs up against the firewall preventing me from fitting the Capri transmission into the car.

The Midget came with a forward mounted steering rack. No fitment problems at all.

I'm selling it for less than I bought it for, but thought that someone with a Midget might just enjoy the Hell out of it.

Nope, too many projects already. Need the $$ to finish up one of the cars that I already own.
