FS/FT Lexus SC400 Caged Roller - $650obo

Location: Urbana, IL

I bought this roller two years thinking I'd put it back together with the 2JZ that was in my living room and under my bed but other silly projects have gotten repeatedly in the way and i've lost my love for the idea and the engine's gone. It's just been following me around and I really don't want to scrap it or saw it up and part it out.

It's a Lexus SC400 minus engine and transmission. Brakes uninstalled and in car. Steering column trashed (was going to fab up a simple dirt track style column). Holes in firewall filled. Really nice 6pt DOM cage with NASCAR door bars built to old Formula D specs (all it needs is footwell intrusion protection to be legal). All glass good. No interior apart from dash. Everything in primer with surface rust from sitting.

Pictures coming when I visit it tomorrow. I'd ideally like it gone ASAP before I have to tow it again.

Will trade or partial trade for miata related parts.

I would love some detailed pics of the cage, to see what would need changed for Lemons type racing. What material is the cage made of? (DOM / ERW? Diameter and wall thickness known?) Thanks!

I couldn't get pictures today unfortunately. Cage is DOM and at least 1.5 * 0.095 with at least .08 thick mounting plates. I'm out of town for the weekend so I'm getting a friend to take pictures and measure the cage. I have a set of black fenders and a red front/rear bumper with the car, and all headlights. Original bumpers were trashed and a 'body kit' put in place hence the replacements.

While the cage looks decent enough, unfortunately it is too far from Lemons spec for me - it would need redone. (They require 1.75" for a 3000lb+ car and the rear diagonals can't terminate behind the rear tires.) Thanks for the pics though, it's a great deal. Hope someone can use it.

stripped out (interior, hvac, side glass, etc.) I would guess that would be under 3000 lbs., no? who knows though.

i haven't had the chance to put it on scales unfortunately. looks like this is going to the crusher though, if anyone here needs lexus parts i'll have good fenders hood bumpers and lights.
