I've seen them for less that 4.5k in NorCal or South Oregon...

Is that a delusional fuel economy number? 38 mpg!? I don't know these cars well, but WILL get to know them if that's an attainable figure.

Delusional, 28 is more realistic, maybe they got a typo. They would only get 38 mpg going downhill with a tailwind.

28 still beats the hell out of the 22 my Impreza gets... being the Honda guy that I am seems like I need to be finding me one

and the 38 might be legit with only 2 wheel drive....

Well there may be some cheaper, I have only really looked once, but I can't even remember the last time I saw one.

The last model of the Civic AWD wagon is EPA rated at pretty much the same fuel economy of an (early) Impreza AWD wagon. They're also not far off from each other in weight and size, really.

I get 33 mixed in my '92 Civic LX with the 1.5L SOHC non vtec in the winter. Usually about 35+ in the warmer months.

What's that got to do with an older AWD wagon?

In reply to Nashco:

I was mostly chiming in about what mileage to expect from a 2WD Civic. I would think you could get near or over 30mpg in the AWD wagon.

I disagree, 38 mpg is doable, especially in fwd. He's most likely screwed up the rear diff using it in rwd only. Its not how they were designed, bad for the diff. So keep that in mind if anyone is considering this.
