This is an ‘86 MR2 I bought as a possible challenge car, but I have already pushed it aside for three other Challenge cars. It’s time to clear it out of my yard. It’s located near Tampa, Florida. (Valrico, 33594)
Bad (That I know of … because all I did was tow it home and stuff it in under a cover):
- Bring your own wheels (The car is $150 less that way). If you don’t think you have 4x100s ….. look again, you probably do. Or your buddy probably has some to lend you.
- Bring a trailer. It ran poorly when I parked it 3 years ago, so don’t plan to drive it onto the trailer. Back then it ran like the gas was refined when the dinosaurs were still alive.
- No headlights (They are required for The Challenge.)
- Race car paint job, but it does not look too bad.
- It’s been sitting for a good three or four years.
Good:
- It looks to be a straight rust free body.
- Has roll bar that you can sell off. They cost about $600 new, so it should sell well.
- Has B-pillar trim that should easily sell off (I was offered $50 to sell it off now.)
- Comes with KYBs in the box.
- Has racing seat belts.
- Looks to have a header.
- Fun aluminum air scoop.
- Has brake bias adjuster and braded brake lines.
It’s an old race car so it may have other goodies, but I simply have not looked.
Bill of sale. Valrico, Florida. Bring 4x100s and a trailer
Roll bars, seat belts, and Kumho tires are no longer budget items at The Challenge. With the allowable sell off rules, a clever person could make this a $0 Challenge car. A brilliant person could go negative. :)
