So, I was given a truck that my parents no longer had a need for (and they sort of got it free with a boat that they bought). It's a Canadian market truck, fairly basic, but it does have A/C and CC. Approx 105,000 miles. Newer tires all around (including spare), newer rear brakes. It wasn't run during winters but was stored outside, so it's rusty, and the interior is many shades of red and pink.
Starts down to at least 20 f (as cold as it got here this winter), but when it's hot it doesn't always start. Working on it is out of the picture for a month or two, doctors orders post surgery.
I haven't put more than a few thousand miles on it in the past year and a half, so it's time to find it a new home.
Oh, and the title is branded as "invalid mileage" due to the odometer reading in km.
there is one here on CL that has 150k that has rust but isnt rotten, and is a loaded silverado for $1600 and his price keeps dropping.
The 6.5TD seems almost as unloved as the 350 diesel.
Go to Heath diesel and get a chip. It really wakes it up and no more smoke. But don't pull anything bigger than a utility trailer. I have a friend with one and he has half a million miles with no trouble.

I've been very happy with mine. I paid $3500 for it last year. '94 Suburban 2500 2WD with ~150k miles.
Judging by the amount of interest in the truck when I picked it up, it was underpriced.

You can pay me 5 dollars and I'll come down to get it......
Regular cab, and it will likely soon be for sale. I just don't use it Asa truck enough to make it worth paying taxes, plates, insurance, etc on it.
'The rust is the deciding factor.
Sadly it is also a 2wd.
That being said. The mileage is very low and the engine is simple to work on. If it was rust free I'd say 3800. Guessing at the mid rust range I'd say 2,600 as is with startup issues.
Startup issued are usually the pmd or pump mounted driver. They last about 200000km.
4 speed auto (sadly). Will get pics posted later today. I find it funny. Here in VA, people are amazed at how rusty it is. Friends from the north are amazed by how little rust it has. Guess it's what you are used to.
A/C blows nice and cold. Temp gauge doesn't seem to be working though :(
Exhaust currently ends at rear of cab. Legal in VA, so I never had it repaired.
The temp gauge is usually a single wire with a cheap plastic clip on end that corrodes inside or the clip broke and its dangling.
Not too bad. Pm me when you have a price in mind.
I will put it up for $2000 for the GRM board. Truck is just north of Charlottesville VA.

This one seems like one of those $1500. Buy it for $1500, treat it however you want, price won't go up or down more than $500.
That being said, 3/4 ton puts it up to $2000, diesel up to $2500. With the short bed and regular cab, you'd be back to $2000.
Thats an unusually optioned truck. I so wish I could get a modern diesel in anything but a 3/4 ton.
I pulled MANY full-sized cars and trucks on my "utility trailer" behind my '95 1500 6.5TD. The 4L80E is a MAN! And the thing got me around 17-18 MPG while unloaded. The PMD (FSD) is problematic, but there are fixes for that. The truck is worth $1500 for sure.
Describe your starting issue: white smoke, motor turns slowly/quickly, sounds like it is hitting on some cylinders and not others, etc./??????
