no doubt its a true c with the hood bulge but the one i owned back in the early 80's had aluminum hood, doors, and front fenders and a the electric overdrive tranny i really thought they all came with them
MGAs have aluminum doors and hoods. MGB/C had aluminum hoods until midyear 1970. Bs and Cs never had aluminum doors or fenders. The GTS and other factory racers had both in aluminum. This car either has an post-70 OE replacement hood or an aftermarket hood. Regardless, that's a bargin.
Are you sure the B came with an aluminum hood up until 1970? My 1969 had steel. I'd love to get an alloy hood for my current one.

Correctamundo! This is still pretty rough though. However, it is the cheapest I have seen a GT.
It's not just rust. The back window looks to be cracked ($330 at Moss). It's been poked in the nose. And the rust IS pretty nasty. I guess it's worthwhile if you want a C and don't want to look outside the rust belt though.
What's that on the left of the engine bay in this picture? Almost looks like a brake booster, but it's on the wrong side and a 1969 wouldn't have a booster anyhow.
MGCs had power assist brakes and they have two boosters. One for the front circuit and one for the rear. On LHD cars they are remote. Terribly English solution. You are right about the alloy hood; it was midyear 1969, not 1970. Though as was the case with other changes, there is no hard date. They used what was on hand.
There are enough C-specific pieces there to make some money parting it. However, it would be a restoration candidate around these parts.
Interesting, I've seen those remote boosters in some other LBC applications.
The classic Land Rover community has tried to figure out what the authentic engine paint color is on an old Rover. The correct answer appears to be "whatever was on hand at the time".
I have a 73 SIII and I'm fairly certain the engine was painted with Castrol. In fact, it still retains the factory finish and now so does my driveway.
In reply to jazzop: I've worked on motorcycles like that.
I wonder what's going on with the 25 yards of wiring in front of the radiator on this one?
