For Sale - or free to good home.
1991 Toyota MR2. Normally aspirated 2.2 liter 4cy - with @300k miles on it (still runs fine ... but leaks oil out of the front crank seal at a 1 quart a day rate)
Automatic transmission - with no working reverse :-)
Battle damage:
- drivers quarter panel was knocked in - and left that way (cuz money)
- Front end took a modest hit - we pulled it all out using telephone poles and rope
- Headlights go almost all the way down - but all the way up as well.
- Fake carbon fiber hood (hey - it was free after the front end incident)
Full interior in acceptable shape.
Pics to come (once I put them some place I can link to) - but it's pretty fugly so ... not sure that's a selling point :-)
Seems a shame to scrap this - it received a lot of love, and a complete refresh of the brake system, ball joints and tie rods over the last couple of years ..
Update: Located in Basking Ridge, NJ - 07920
If its local ill take it and turn it into a challenge car.
Unless this car has been crushed into the size and shape of a paper clip someone's getting a Hell of a deal.
The car in his profile garage is running a New Jersey plate.
I literally had a dream about building an MR2 last night. Which is weird because it's not a car I think about very often. Jersey is a little far though...

If it's in NJ, I might be able to get it. Store it with family (in NJ) until I can go bring it home to CT.

Let me think on this... it might work out for me.

Yes - hence race car, not restoration :D
Some in front of the rear wheel, driver's side. Not structural.

Actually - I had always dreamed / planned to make this into a race car for LeMons myself - I've driven this very model for Mod Squad racing a few times, and I really like it on the track. Handles very well, and enough power to put you in the top 20% of any given field - partly because it's (almost) always still running at the finish.
I have been part of the MR2OC community (and the local branch) for a long time, and though my heart belongs to my 1989 MK1 MR2, I have to admit that this model makes a fine race car.
Unfortunately, finances are not was expected so ... I need the temptation to be foolish removed from my driveway. Hence the offer :D

Thanks James!
My friend Ross and I traveled down to NJ to pick this up. The MR2 made a two hour drive home to CT smoothly. Can't wait to start getting it prepped for lemons (and whatever else we may run it in.)

You're very welcome dude! I was glad to meet you and happy to know that this didn't go off to the wrecker - if it does in fact become a race car I will be ecstatic :D
GL - and keep in touch - I wanna help build the race car :-)

I guess I should make a separate build thread for this, but just a couple updates.
Car is resting at my friends warehouse, we'll be working on it shortly. He's got big plans for it, I'm just focusing on the initial lemons race sometime next year. Trying to gather interest to put a team together, between him and myself and his friend we have three right now, I've got two of my friends I'm trying to recruit.
First two things we'll be working on car wise are stripping the interior and locating the oil leak.
I'm also trying to get all our prospective driver/crew to visit the Thompson, ct Lemons race in August to get an up close idea of what we're getting into.
