My Aunt Fanny had one of those when I was like 10......I dreamed it could go anywhere, do anything. 
Joe's Rallycross ride is similar, but with a 4-speed manual. They are dirt cheap, rugged, and share some Jeep DNA.
This one looks pretty clean for $1200. I'd hit it.
That is way to close to me, and way too far away from what I want in a vehicle, and way too close to my price range for my liking.
...and it's even closer to me. :(
