Rare color, but talk about a beat interior...if they ran the engine out of oil, the AWD bevel gear is probably blown too. That's a parts car if I've ever seen one.
The bevel gears don't usually wear out it't the $75 coupler that runs from the trans to the bevel gear that goes. About 2 hrs to change. Just in case anyone has a supposed to be AWD Volvo. The stock ones are made of putty, replacements are tough steel.
On an other note would anyone be interested in a 2000 V70 XCSE with the rare 16 in factory wheels and built in middle row booster seats. Never heard of the latter option, it is the reason that I purchased this car.
I was actively seeking one of these when I stumbled upon the ad for my Miata in January. I would have totally bought this car back then.

So I kind of only want one to do a cool motor swap and have a nasty fast shoebox wagon... Thank god i don't have time to take on another project currently...
I see a car for sale in PA with CT plates... and it gives me flashback nightmares of what my E30 put me through...
No... Effing... Way.
$1500 is priced too high. That car is scrap.
Car is definitely not scrap. T5 motors are dime a dozen, and if the interior isn't shredded a steam cleaner can do wonders. I'd say a freshened up junkyard T5 and a rebuilt 19T, plus a budgeted bevel gear replacement and a good cleaning and you would be good to go.
$1000 seems fair to me.

Unfortunately, my past experience automatic Volvos from that era has made me gun shy. I wouldn't pay $100 for that car. Any amount of money you put into it would pretty much get you an already running car that isn't full of question marks and a scary interior.

My buddy just scrapped an auto V70X. The transmission crapped out, thus taking 90% of the vehicle value with it.
