This looks like an incredible deal, unless these are the utter crap Volvos. I may go check it out, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for. NMNA

Not utterly crap, but be cautious. It would be easy to spend more fixing this car than it's worth depending on what else he's not mentioning. In good running condition this is a $4-5K car, so in theory you'd have some budget to play with fixing it. If it even hints at having transmission issues, run away.

Looking at the crud under the car and the low LR tire, it looks like it hadn't moved in some time when that picture was taken.

In reply to Ian F:

Did you notice that it's a MANUAL? If it is, it's worth the asking price for the transmission alone...supposedly they only brought a couple hundred manual V70s to the states.

Check to see if the pcv maint. has been done( can cause oil leaks, like the crank seal, and the rear main seal ).

Also, matthews volvo site if your friend for these cars.

No, I missed that. Granted, w/o pics of the interior I remain dubious... it wouldn't be the first time a CL ad was wrong, now would it?

Yes, the manuals are a bit of a unicorn and if you buy it and rebuild it you'll be the envy of every hipster on Swedespeed...

"needs...a new swaybar to pass inspection" That alone should give you great pause, and may well be indicative of how hard this car has been beaten.

That little tail on the top of the rear gate is indicative of a T5. This may well be a unicorn car and very worth the price. Just go with caution and a sharp eye.

From the seller:

"It's drivable, but you'd have to put oil in it. I drained it when I was looking for the leak. I had it towed to my place because I didn't know where the leak was. I don't have any int. pics on me, but it's black leather and black carpet. The drivers side seat has a large tear that was present when I bought it two years ago. I had a seat cover. The seats are heated so choose that wisely.

It's got wear, but it's pretty good for being 14 years old. It's been a great car, I just also have an Xterra I sunk about $700 into this month, and a motorcycle that needs a $400 carb/jet kit. Sooooo I'm selling as opposed to fixing."

Not sketchy at all. More like, "I didn't know it had an oil leak until there was no more oil and I had to have it towed home."

Plan on a motor swap.
