I was not thrilled by what I found when I tried to turn the Special Miata by hand. I'm going to try again tomorrow and verify that it won't turn, because as I was JUST TYPING THIS I can't remember if I took it out of gear or not.

I am an idiot.

I got the engine started, and I'm pretty certain I'm going to need a fresher one.

Let me know what's out there.

Metal Man is parting a couple of NB's, not sure if he still has any motors or not, might want to check with him. He is in Lawrenceville, GA, NE of Atlanta. Good guy, good prices.

Given MetalMan's response, I might wind up just looking for any 1.8 engine in good shape and putting the 2000 bits on it. That, or I'm going to have to do a rebuild myself.

We've got a couple low mileage '01 engines at work. $750 shipped to a business address.

01 is VVT, he'd have to swap heads or look at a Megasquirt or something.

Wouldn't be a bad idea for maximum fun status, though.

Yep. The 1999 and 2000 engines are high demand items. Apparently the heads are in demand for NA applications as well. It makes sourcing one expensive.

Though, just using the block on one of those might be an idea.
