My '49 Caddy now has four new tires, but I don't have any kind of spare to throw in the trunk at this point.
I'm looking for a cheap, complete wheel/tire assembly just decent enough to get me to the next exit in an emergency.
Local in Detroit area
15x6 (or skinnier)
5x5 bolt pattern
~3 1/2" backspace
3" center bore
215/75/15
225/75/15
235/75/15
225/70/15
235/70/15
225/65/15
235/65/15
Would all work
Jim,
Chev Astro wheels are close, but 6.5 inches wide and 4 inch back space. They came with temporary spares that might work. You might try finding the temporary spare from a full size GM like a Roadmaster or Impala/Caprice. Or, something from a full size GM pickup will be 5x5, too.Hit the yard at Parts-Galore.

I knew the full size pickups/vans are 5x5 (or 6 bolt), but I always assumed the astro and cars were 4.75 - a mini spare from any of those would definitely work. Thanks for the tip!

No upcoming Cleveland trip that I know of, thanks anyway.

Jim, if you want to test fit a full size Astro wheel and tire, or the temporary spare you're welcome to drop by. The winter wheels and tires are sitting in the garage and the spare is under the van.
Buddy at work still had the spare from his old Astro (Safari, actually) in his barn that he let me have.
Looks like it will work perfect - dual bolt pattern 16x4 w/ 145/80 temporary tire.
