If you have a Escort Wagon with a 5 speed you want to ditch, let me know! Been craving one for some time now, the 91-96 body style.

Its a later one but its a 5 speed and price seems right. Not mine of course: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/2114494275.html
Make sure you check out the rear strut mounts and surrounding sheet metal on any prospective purchases. They get extra crusty rusty up here in the salt belt.
If you find leads on anything in the midwest that you don't want due to distance, hook me up!
I just bought a beat-up 4 door...but really want a 5 speed wagon someday soon.
BTW, I absolutely LOVE the fact that the ball joints unbolt from these things in a matter of minutes (purportedly...ask me later tonight for the real story).
Clem
Mine did unbolt in minutes, but I'd love to hear your story, JIC I ever run into a similar situation.

Yeup! Cant find any. Looking for a clean one, 5 speed for the $1500-2000 range. Want to put a set of sport springs, kybs, panasports and call it a day. Eventually, would like to swap a GT head onto it. Dont know what that entails, so looks like i have some research to do....
In reply to DukeOfUndersteer:
The GT head (mazda 1.8 BP) doesn't swap onto the Ford 1.9 (but the whole thing would go in easily with a donor GT). This is what you want to do... Bolt on DSM Turbo
As for engine swaps, it sounds like the '97-'00 2.0 Liter "spi" is the easiest engine to swap in. The GT engine is apparently a more involved parts-swapping exercise.
I think you can also turbo the 1.9. Something to think about.
I did a passenger side ball joint last night in about an hour on my escort. Or I bet I could do it again in about an hour. It went fairly well, even without air tools. I bought an $8.99 Harbor Freight picklefork ball joint separator for the job and was happy I did.
Clem's tip for doing ball joints on an excort: Jack the whole front end up (both sides) so you're not fighting the sway bar when you try to put it all back together.
I'll do the other side when it's not so cold and gray outside.
Clem
This guy seems motivated to sell...he's posted a few listing complaining about no one coming to see it!

Good thing, because the stock rears will be broken. When I had one my rear springs were broken, and so were all the ones at the junk yards. I ended up putting 97-up springs on it.

Got one in East Texas! Easiest car to work on I have found.
Took the valve dropped engine out and put another in and was driving down the road in 5 hours!
This one is red...still searching for a pink one!

I love my escort wagons! Currently drive a 1994. Had a 1997, an it was a bit nicer to drive. Both 5 speeds.

Hmm....
Should be easy enough to do. Might even be able to buy one... there's a few GT-converted wagons running around.
GT front bumper, GT grill, Tracer hood, GT sideskirts (extended if necessary, don't remember if it is), GT rear bumper, some decent suspension, MX3 seats, and you're ready to roll.
