You are the man.  Reminds me of the family man that autocrossed a Volvo wagon in the early 70s when I was in college.  

Its gone. These are rising in popularity. 

My folks had a 220D with MT back in 1983 when I started to drive.  It was solid as a rock, but so slow that a fargin’ BEETLE passed me .... thanks to this post, those wounds are once again bleeding !!!
