This is my bosses car. He asked me to list it on CL for him. Please feel free to ask me questions or offer suggestions.

How bad is the underside/suspension rot on this...? Runs and drives well enough for a 4-5 hr drive?
Thanks Ross

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I do not believe that the rot is too bad by NY standards. I can investigate further, if you'd like, after the current weather passes.
I believe that it will make a 4-5 hour trip with no problem. It runs and drives fine. My boss daily drove this for his ~40 mile round trip commute until last week when he picked up a 2015 Mazda 3 Sport. Checking the oil level periodically would be prudent. I believe that this engine has a bit of piston slap, but it has always sounded that way.
My boss is willing to take offers on this. He wants it gone. Let me know what you may be thinking. Someone here needs a new rallycross car.
Im glad youre too far for me to justify it - a sub $1k, AWD, boost-able winter beater would be awesome. Would make a fun entrant to the challenge too!
It is not currently storing any codes because I cleared them. It was complaining about catalytic converter efficiency on bank 1. I can borrow my coworkers accessport tuner thing and disable cat monitoring for GRMers.
It takes more than clearing the codes to pass the OBDII test, unfortunately. Disabling the cat monitoring won't help, either. Thanks, though.

Well that depends on if you can get the emissions monitors set before the CEL comes on.
