Sorry. I won't trade for a broken SVX.
So, how did she do? Well, she survived.
We ran a 40.2 on the autocross, which I was very pleased with. That would have made it a top 10 finish, running on crappy tires, no alignment or suspension work, and zero prep time. Total of 20 minutes of seat time on public streets before running at the Challenge.
So, I guess an RX8 can be a reasonable autocrosser!
Drags were a bit different. This is essentially a bone stock car, and it performed like one. It ran a 17.5 1/4 mile. I did learn that it's really hard to launch a heavy car with a light flywheel.
Some fun- my son Josh has been coming to this event every year since he was 5. This was the first year he has been old enough to drive, and I let him.
His FIRST TIME driving a manual was 5 minutes before the event, in the parking lot at the track, and he has NEVER autocrossed. He successfully negotiated the autocross, which was pretty cool. The only guy smiling bigger than him was his old man. He also ran the drags... THAT was probably not the wisest decision I've ever made. A newbie trying to learn how to shift and launch a the same time leaves a LOT to be desired!!
Anyway, great fun, and a great car! I'm still a fan of light and nimble, and have very little use for a powerful sport touring car sedan in the driveway, so she's definitely for sale. If anyone is here and wants to talk, look me up!
Well, no takers. So far. I do have 1 interested party.
So, the car is available. I'll keep it available for GRMers for about a month. I will cut the best deal for someone who wants to Challenge it.
After that, it will go up for sale to the general public at FMV.
For the record, I DID sell this car, and I DID sell it for Challenge money.
John Brown is now the proud owner
I had a total of 1 offer, and I ended up delivering it for free to ATL, and meeting John at the airport for his fly-n-drive.
Just thought I'd let a few of you naysayers in on the details.
