I know where there's a better one for $1300 and I'm not telling anyone where it is.....because its going to be in my driveway real soon.... right next to the other 6 TR8s I already own. Nanananana.  Seriously thou, building a competitive challenge TR8 on a budget is going to be extremely difficult, even if the car starts out free.  I know there was one done before, but it didn't win, and a lot of things fell into place with that car.  They are not that fast in stock form and go fast parts are pricey.  Still one of the best sports car bargains on the planet thou if you have $10 to $15K to throw at one.  Even my LS3 powered 500 plus HP monster should end up costing less than $20K to build.  That one in NJ is a parts car at best, and worth every penny of the $1500 price tag if your looking to do a conversion.

That was my thought as well, it really was just a donor vehicle for all the hard to find parts such as the subframe, power steering, rear end, etc... but scrap the rusty/crappy body for a better TR7 that is not rusted out. Could probably get this one for half of what he is asking, this just a parts car.

The Linden, NJ car could be a flooded salvage from Hurricane Sandy.

I just looked where Linden NJ is.  I'll bet dollars to donuts that is a  Sandy car.

There are a lot of valuable parts there that could turn a regular TR7 into a fun little toy.  (I think we sold our power steering rack for around $570.)  Our Challenge car did not have a Limited Slip dif so we spent a lot of time lighting up one rear tire.  It did run a 13.5 second 1/4 mile at 106 mph though, and take place 4th over all.  The problem is it gets very expensive to get the car to go any faster.  I'm think just the LSD would blow most of a Challenge budget.

Off topic.  For some reason I really thought the aftermarket fog lights that came with our TR7 were really cool.  They obviously did not make the car preform any better, but they got restored and put back on the car.
