FS: 2001 Golf 2.0l Automatic - 209k miles located in CT - Mine / Affiliated

Got this off a friend with the intent to cut the roof off to turn it into a truck and then run the Gambler 500. I thought I would have the time and money to do that but I don't this year. 

Higher miles (209k) but runs good, since fixing it I've put about 80 miles on it. The starter was bad and it had a misfire in the rain (ignition coil replaced, friend had replaced plugs and wires a year ago) . While I was working on it did an oil change on it too. 

What's good, pretty clean body and interior for the age. Runs and drives nicely. Heated seats, moonroof works. Did a headlight cleaning so no foggy lenses. Everything works. 

What's bad, well a lot of little things for a 17 year old car. It was bumped in the back so some grooves in the rear bumper. Bottom of the driver's fender rusted, p/s slightly rusty. Glovebox latch is broken off (happens to these a lot) but is easily opened by hand. The lever connecting the passenger seat release is broken, leaving the seat in one place. May need rear shocks, rides well, but getting a clunk from the rear on a really big bumps/potholes. 

After the idea of trucking it faded, I was going to keep it to commute in myself, but I lucked into a really cheap Passat 4Motion so I'll be keeping that one for myself. 

Looking to get $1800 or best reasonable offer. Not looking for trades except for two specific vehicles, a Miata (always the answer) or a TJ Jeep Wrangler (sorry I just don't dig the YJ's)

Check engine light just came on, P0420 Catalyst Below Threshold. Resetting it it stays off for about 30-50 miles before coming back, so you might be able to squeeze it through emissions if your state has that.

Looking at the market and seeing a number of other cars not selling, my initial price was a little lofty, so it's come down quite a bit to $1000. 

Motivated seller... I'm picking up another car next week and need some space and cash/trades/goods are always good too... 

The curse of this car... Running and driving but the ABS light came on, my scan tool can't read brake faults. Driving it seemed like the the ABS pump was activating when stopped, braking normal. 

$500 to take it whole or this weekend I start ripping it apart...

It's now in cheap rallycross beater range.

I moved it behind the garage today and pulled up my 4motion Passat project to play with this weekend. The Golf has until next weekend to sell or else I start tearing it apart.

Just saw this Thursday night. I put it on Facebook last night and got enough crap offers and questions I'm just going to part it out. Some pending sales on parts already.
