Probably a terrible idea, but I am looking to sell my 2003 Mazda Protege5.

I've had it for about two years now. Previous owner took good care of it. I have put probably 30,000 miles on it. P.O. did the timing belt, clutch, lowering springs (Teins). Since then, I've done brakes, oil changes, wheels and tires. A/C and heat works great, windows work, HIDs, poly motor bushings. Only things that don't work is the cruise control and cigarette power supply. Along in it's life, someone dropped a cigarette onto the driver's seat. Other than that, it is nice and clean.

Engine is good and strong. I change the oil every 5,000ish miles with Royal Purple 10w-30. Doesn't burn or leak any fluid. I just did front brakes about a month ago. Rear pads are about 50%. Clutch is good, no slippage. I only commute about 10 miles to work, so I'm not racking up the miles as much anymore. Fuel mileage is about 30mpg at 65mph. I don't hotrod it or speed in it.

I have two sets of wheels that go with it. On the car are a set of knock-off Enkei RPF1's with a set of Chinese tires. Has new lug nuts and hub rings. The second set of wheels are "Racing Hart" MazdaSpeed wheels. They have curb damage and worn out tires, but hey, they're free! Also comes with some eBay/Amazon header the P.O. had purchased, but never put on.

I had a MazdaSpeed front lip on it, but took it off because I thought it looked awful. So, the foglights need to go back in. There are some scratches on the front and rear bumper and some on the door from where someone knocked the passenger side mirror off in the old race shop. I stuck a new mirror on, but it has a generic black cap on it. I still have the painted white cap that goes with it.

Located in Fort Worth/Arlington Texas. Has a clear title, in my name, in hand. State Inspection was done last year and is due in February (I can get it done here at the dealership). Wouldn't hesitate to drive it to New York this evening if the occasion came up!

Asking $2,300 online, but to my friends, $2000 is the asking price. Email is paul.hutton.11 at gmail dot com

I have no reason to get this, but I would be curious to if you would be interested in an E46 325 in trade.....

Yes I would.

I should add... I had nothing to do with color of paint on the wheels. Person I had bought them off of had plasti-dipped them gold. Coat it too light to peel off, so it just looks bad. I am half tempted to paint them black over the weekend.

Love these. My first real car was a Mazdaspeed protege, and I had so many bad thoughts about a mazdaspeed P5. Very underrated chassis IMHO. I'dfly and buy it from you in a second if I weren't strapped right now... Good luck!

Soak 'em with WD40 and it'll wipe off.

i agree with you on the chassis as an excellent platform, sadly for some reason in the mid-atlantic states the majority of them have started to return to the earth

Oh yeah, I'm in New England so I can commiserate. It's crazy. It's easier to find a rust free BF/BG protege than it is to find a rust free late model. At least around here.

Yup, BGs are definitely easier to find down here as well, though in the past 5 years their numbers have dropped off a bit as well.

Well, I have a local interested in buying it for his Wife. In turn, I am looking to take the money and buy a G35 Coupe. So if the buyer passes on it this evening, I'll probably just remove the CL listing and see if any of you guys are interested.

You'll need to log in to post.
