Looks clean, seller says it's not as nice as it looks, but a $1200 turbo Regal could be way fast (in a straight line) for challenge dollars.

Craigslist - 1978 Regal

It's not a Grand National, a T-Type, or a Turbo T. It's a first-year Turbocharged Sport Coupe, and it wants to come live with you.

This particular Turbo Regal wasn't very fast. Pre-'83 they used the same basic V6 but with a blow-through (or maybe draw-through) carb, no intercooler and only 170hp.

Which was quite respectable back then. The widening performance gap is one of the reasons I stopped being quite so excited about FC RX-7s.

It would be cool to upgrade that with a modern induction system and engine management and an intercooler but otherwise keep it stock looking

Well, to be fair, even the cold air cars ('86-87 only, '84-85 were non-intercooled EFI) used the same block/crank/rods/heads as a regular 231.

It was a draw-through carb setup. Turbo mounted to the intake manifold and the carb went on the turbo inlet. Just like a Pontiac 301 Turbo.

This ad is worse for me than the All-trac ten minutes from me.
