I'd suspect the wheel base is too short to be a good car hauler.

Maybe so, but some of the small Japanese COEs are pretty short.
It would make a good tow vehicle though. Put a box on the back and make a mini RV out of it.
I can see that with a box on the back and pulling a trailer.
My ramp truck has a stock wheelbase for a regular cab dually F350. There's way too much rear overhang for my tastes, but it works. Handles pretty great for such a big pig, too.
