Air cooled VW dirt track car. Call it redneck Formula Vee.

I am curious about the shift linkage it's a swing axle transmission set up for mid engine with what appears to be a hydraulic clutch slave. At first I thought it might have been 914 transmission until I saw the swing axles. Is it a flipped vw transmission? Maybe someone was able to swap the diferential from one side to the other to have 4 speeds forward and not 4 speeds backwards? I have heard of people accidently putting the diff part of transaxles in wrong and getting the wrong direction from the wheels 1 speed forward and 4 or 5 backwards. So if you plug the vent hole I guess you can flip a type 1 transmission? Looking at the ad again it has to be a diff sway or else the starter would be in the wrong place and the bolt pattern wouldn't match up right? Either way a very cool piece of work.
Looks like a SCCA D/Emod Type 3 sedan to me. Appeard under the new rules that if built to SCCA rules it Should be challenge legal.
I'm kinda glad that's far enough away to not tempt me. It looks cool.
I just came this close to texting the seller. Was able to resist. Might not once I have a few drinks.

The ring gear is flipped to the other side and the transaxle is turned 180°. Its still right side, notice the starter is still higher than the axles. "Flipped" is just the colloqiualism.
I really really don't need this. It'll be years before I could get to it. Seriously I have 3 more projects in front of it.
There's no VIN on it. That breaks my rule of at least pretending to have all vehicles street legalable. I'm out.
Uh, Stampie... Dunno if this would be of any use to you--titled 914 to merge with the dirt car? $900?
Why do y'all do this stuff to me? What did I do to you to deserve this? Lucky for me I'm not willing to make two trips to Missouri to get both cars.

Two trips? If you're going for one, get 'em both on the same trip--they're only a couple of hours apart. It sounds like you could cut that 914 in half with a portable sawzall and put in the back of a pickup then pull the dirt car on a trailer... Don't forget WalMart has Black Friday turbos cheap...

I have an empty trailer going to Huntsville. That would get it a fair way there. Going down the 14th.
too bad there's no way to know if the cage meets SCCA spec without driving all the way down to look at it.
