Could this be legit? It seems like a lot of car for $300. Seems like you could make something Challenge worthy. Who is in the Tampa/St. Pete area?

I mean, i’d pay $300.  Don’t take me as any kind of car buying compass though

For $300 I'd be looking to find/build a front engine chassis and just use the body. Sell off the VW bits for $300 and have some fun.

This was my thought process as well.

I’d give 300 if it’s a dual port engine.

Yeah, that seems legit, with a rusty pan, it is really only good for the body and possibly the engine. Good deal for something unique, but these were not the most authentic kit cars ever assembled, so no surprise they depreciate back down the original donor car level over time.

Cheap mg kit car on rusty vw floorpan?

Sounds like you are a lift kit away from one of the most excellent dune buggies ever.

BTW, if this was within 100 miles of me it would be mine.

I agree that, at least in theory, it would be pretty easy to swap another pan in and buggyize this thing.

I'm 2900 miles away now but in about 3 weeks I will be 5 miles away. I'm really hoping it disappears before I get down there because that has bad decision written all over it.

EDIT: Something like this:

That looks quite nice without the front fenders, at least from this perspective.

That seems to be one of those "too good to be true" ads.

Drop the engine.  Pull the fuel tank.  Prop the chassis on it's side and brace it in place and replace the pans.  Just a thought.

You'll need to log in to post.
