So a friend who just did me a huge favor asked me to keep an eye out for a dune buggy for him to run in the Detroit gambler 500 next year, so I'm turning to the best place I know for weird stuff.
What he wants:
$500 ish
NOT a sand rail style, but the fiberglass kind
Somewhere between Philadelphia and Cleveland. Maryland and west Virginia are fine too, the tristate area in general.
If anyone stumbles across one, let me know please? Thank you.
Once you get this all figured out I'll take it off of your hands after the Gambler. I have a cabin near Silver Lake.
Sorry no real help but I'll keep an eye out for one.
How complete do you need it. My dad was big in the sandrail and dune buggy communities locally so I can ask around. I'm a bit west of Cleveland though

Honestly, I'm not sure. I was thinking something that ran when parked however long ago since he said it didn't need to run, by we didn't get too far into talking about it today. He didn't even really give me a distance, I just picked a 6 hour radius out of the air.
I'll see if I can get him to join up
i have a 72 squareback that ran when parked, not a buggy but close

Thanks Rico, I can’t believe I didn’t think to post here, I’m glad you did.
. I have a fair amount of flexibility on price, distance and condition. I have a trailer.
I would like something along the lines of a Manx clone but as long as it has a few mechanical gremlins that pop up at odd times and no top so I can freeze my arse off, I will take a Baja, a 181 or whatever.

And it will get you close to nature.
Check out cleveland Craigslist there were a couple really close to me a few weeks ago
I would keep on eye on The Samba off road classifieds section, also worth looking in the other VW section. Lots of cheap buggies, but mostly west coast unfortunately

Rev call me at 412-974-5695. I have a Manx body and a full length vw pan. Has some other parts too. Parts are in Mckeesport. I'm in Elizabeth.
Paul
Most glass buggies are one shortened floorplans , they normally cut out 14 inches .....
But they did make full length bodies so you did not have to cut the pan....
In reply to paulmpetrun :
Thanks Paul, I let DMG know, he's the one looking.
In reply to tdrrally :
Are you still trying to sell that?
