So, we'll be in booth 5536 if you're going to the PRI trade show. We've often used this to find items to expand our lineup - for example, we now sell Aeromotive fuel pumps. Is there something you'd like us to keep an eye out to help make DIYAutoTune.com more of a one stop EFI shop? Either something for us to buy and resell, or something for us to use as a benchmark when developing our own stuff. Now's the best time to bring up what you'd like to see DIYAutotune.com add to their lineup!

Has anybody integrated a PAIR of CAN bus channels with MS? There are companies making stuff that talks/listens on CAN, companies making stuff that can act as a CAN gateway (with 2 CAN channels), and companies that make controllers for vehicles that have lots of CAN stuff and are missing one or more controllers (such as a modern non-GM car getting an LS swap). Boy, sure would be nice if somebody made an engine controller that had TWO CAN channels to act as a gateway, getting all the required functions and controls in a single setup instead of having to pile multiple boxes together. Forgive me if this is already implemented in custom circuits I haven't seen (and post a link!).

There's also a huge gaping hole in the aftermarket engine controllers when it comes to throttle by wire.

No specific suppliers or products, but opportunities as I see them.

You guys should sell those cheap Bluetooth adapters. People would be willing to pay a bit more to not have to wait for shipping from China and for units that are confirmed to work with MS.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the feedback so far. I'd like to comment on

It's possible a future MS3 based product might have a second CAN channel. Biggest challenge is likely to be reverse engineering the OEM protocols. Such reverse engineering could also be used for the existing single CAN channel on current MS3 (and possibly MS2) products. There's already a couple European CAN based dashes supported in the latest alpha code.

There's also a huge gaping hole in the aftermarket engine controllers when it comes to throttle by wire.

The biggest challenge here is making a system that's bulletproof - then ensuring failsafe operation in case someone's install shoots armor piercing rounds at it. So we've been aware that it would be a good idea to have something that covers DBW eventually, but I'm not sure if or when anything for this will be released, or what form it will take.

Phil at EFI Analytics already sells one:

We didn't want to step on his toes, but we might want to look into reselling them for him.

I can't comment on any toe stepping, but you can get these for $12, and they work great with a few simple mods and programming (standard fair if you are building a megasquirt). The issue is the suppliers seem to pop up and die out frequently (most models work, some don't) and they always ship from China. If you could find a good source and buy a lot of them you could probably sell them for $20 all day long, or $35 with the necessary soldering and programming done.

You'll need to log in to post.
