Mind is blown.
Welcome to the asylum.
Magna_Machine_Works said:Here is where I am as of today! I need to finish some welding, do the rest of the metal finishing and I will spray it in epoxy primer. I will do some more bracing and pull the body off of the chassis. I am thinking I will have to bring the inner wheel wells in 3.5 inches on each side to the stock location and widen the rear fenders by 2 inches. I want to fit 335-30, 20 tires in the back, Thinking a michelin sport cup 4S???? but not completely sold, but I want some fat meats out back, also thinking of 305/30/20's in the front. Also, when I build the frame to accept the mustang subfram, I may need to massage the floor and the back seat area a bit to make it work, so I don't want to get too far into the body work past getting this in epoxy. I may work on the trunk lid a bit first though
Having ridden in a same era LaSalle I understand you wanting to widen it. Nice work.
Thanks guys!
Widening was the best option. There is surprisingly a lot of leg room in it front and back, but its a lot tight side to side
It may be sacrilegious around here, but I've never been into box flares. The proper way to fit a widened track is to widen the whole car! Give 'er!

Thanks! I will be widening the rear fenders as well, but as much to meet flush with the running boards that stick out as to put wider tires in the back, a proper tire haha.
For some reason the support brace on the trunk would be pretty good looking as a rear spoiler. Friend has a 39 LaSalle hearse with a nova front and rear clip and 454 400 turbo. Built it back in the mid to late 90's. You are correct it is very compact in front compared to the actual length of the vehicle.
It already looks awesome and I look forward to seeing your progress. You're doing some truly old school hot rodder/customizer work. Love it!

So are we!
This is very cool. Definitely following.
There's something about cars from the 1930s that I like. They just had style.

Thank you! All of the windows are flat. I only have video of it, but I cut some 1/8 cold roll and clecoed it into the pinch welds on the frame to simulate glass and align it to make sure the windows would end up being straight when I was welding in the filler panels

Heres a picture. The fronts are being done in the same way to verify the cowl fits and everything is square. NOTE: you can also peek the rotors for the S550 rear suspension uner there!
