Probably the starter relay. I think the horns run right off the button right now. Things are fused, but International seems to have believed that relays were unreliable and elected to run fairly heavy wire instead.

Once the cavity behind the headlights dries what about pouring a bit of Por 15 or such down into the areas you can't reach?
In reply to Wall-e:
I think I'm going to use the Eastwood sprayers. I could just pour POR15 and hope for the best, but I think I'll get better coverage with the fancy sprayer.
I'm running out of parts still attached to the truck. Today I attacked the brakes. I'm not trying to fix them, I just want to be able to stop the truck at yard speeds. These are the brake and clutch cylinders. A bit unconventional.
There is also this big cylinder. It's wired to the switch labeled Micro Brake Controller. I think it's a fancy line lock.
The whole thing comes out easily with four nuts and the brake line. So far so good.
Popped off the rubber seal and.... that's not good.
I pulled it all apart. Do these guts look like anything in particular? It's a 1 1/12 inch bore. The cylinder itself feels ok (and should hone out) but the piston is pitted.
I put it all back together after cleaning and after struggling with bleeding. The only way I could get it to bleed was to pull it off the firewall, pop the line and pump fluid with it horizontal. Once I got fluid moving I could reattach the line and put it back. Then I figured out the line between the line lock and the cylinder was plugged. That only took me a hour. I've gotten to the point where I'm pushing fluid from the cylinder under the dash to the vacuum assisted cylinder under the cab, but I'm not activating the wheel cylinders. Tomorrow I'll pick up more brake fluid and work on bleeding. I did manage to crack three of the four front bleeders. The brakes are still broken, but maybe less broken than when today started. I'll call that victory.
Last but not least, I've had a wave of generosity so moved from ideas to work and I cooked this up last night. It still needs a bunch of cleaning up, but I suck at keeping things secret so I cut one out. These will go on the front of the shirt.
That's an awesome sticker!
I was visiting a friend's farm a couple weeks ago and found a COE in the back lot. Sapped a couple shots of it because of this thread. COE pictures

That's a later International. Mid 70's? The front fenders are closer in to the body. I'm wondering if they widened the whole cab somewhere along the line? I'll have to figure it out when it's time to look for a new windshield.
Cool truck. I can't look at it without wanting to save it too.
Vin tag said it was a '78, built in Canada with a 137" wheelbase. Do you know/does yours have the shaft with U joints coming out of the trans?
I couldn't figure it out. Looks like a steering shaft but it goes into the top of the trans. Maybe a sort of PTO but the shaft looks to be too unbalanced to spin fast. Seems too big to be a part of the shift linkage.
In reply to Run_Away:
Thats how my 82 was, giant floppy shaft with Ujoints, goes into some custom IH housing on top of the trans. That's the shift linkage. Mine was a NP235 trans iirc.
Mine has a PTO coming out of the passenger side and the shift linkage in top, but it's an older manual transmission. I imagine there were a lot of different transmission/PTO combinations. Take a picture next time and we'll try and figure it out.
I have shirts that my kids school printed stuff on that I like from a company called Gildan. It looks like I can get S-XL for $2.50-2.75 each depending on how many I order. XXL is 4.75 and anything above that is $6.50. the design, Ferdinand in the front and a small think twice wrench once logo on the back costs me a $1 in iron on. If you're small-XL I can afford to just send you a shirt for fun. If you're bigger than that I can afford to send you a shirt if you buy beer for people at the Challenge.
Anyone who is interested, let me know. I need some new shop shirts and $2.50 each is cheap so I'm going to make an order soon.
2 cool.
2XL
I'll be happy to cover costs!
In the late '80s I worked as a college student driving summers for Coca-Cola. I have spent a lot of hours in these cabs and their similar Ford counterparts. They were the cabs pulling 28ft trailer with the side loading doors.
Of course, no air conditioning and damn those cabs would get hot in the summer sitting right atop the engine/radiator. In the winter, the rubber grommet around where the steering shaft goes through the floor would disappear sending a huge draft of 55 mph cold air right up the pant leg of your right leg.
I also know you can get a pretty good afternoon nap across the long bench (made up of two benches with one seat for a driver and a two seat bench for the passengers.)

Does it say Micro, or Mico? Mico is a company that makes brake controllers for trucks, they are still around in Mankato, Minnesota. https://www.mico.com
I'd be down for an XL! Maybe I'll use it as inspiration to get off my caboose and get wrenching on something!!
I might have to finally get paypal just for a shirt. Ill have to see if my wife already has one when i wake up in the morning!
I'm in for an X-Large. Awesome logo, I love the Ferdinand tie-in.
Any further progress on engine plans at this point? I'm verrry interested in what you're cooking up for a drivetrain...
In reply to Recon1342:
No progress on the motor unless you count cleaning up the Grosh and picking crust off the block progress. I need to order a hone and rings and see how it all goes back together. Then get the heads cleaned up/fixed and go from there. Doing that involves spending money, and the cleaning and de-mousing is free so I'm focusing on free for now.
To everyone who wants a shirt, awesome! I'm writing down each name with a size next to it. I'll order more than I need of each size and once I start putting the iron down I'll send you all messages asking for addresses.
You'll need to log in to post.
