Just one speaker though, none of that sissy stereo nonsense all the kids are listening to these days.

That's just begging for a big Cadillac engine under the cab. I have a 500 in pieces I'll donate for shipping cost if you're interested. Of course after you get the original running and get bored with the stock 180 hp.

Where about in Wisconsin are you holed up?

Not quite to Wassau. We were hoping that we would be able to find a room if we looked at divey places out of town. It worked. Finding lodging for four kids and a dog can be tricky.

Wausau or Wassau? Never heard of the latter. Wausau is a pretty area especially in the fall. If you near Green Bay or Appleton and need something let me know. Or if you want to see a non running Renault 8 and let the dog run a bit.

Neat truck! I see a driveshaft in one picture, but no driveshaft in the next one?

An interesting observation, I've never seen something that big flat towed and that's the only reason I can come up with.

It's a two piece driveshaft, and the rear was pulled for flat towing it. The transmission in it doesn't oil properly if the input shaft isn't turning.

Well, that explains that. I should have realized a truck would have a two piece shaft.

Stories.
Talking to Oldopelguy about his Opels. The ones he has. Purchasing his first one at auction for $35 as a teen. Getting to see my first Opel Manta in person in his out building. Holy cow are they pretty.
Talking to hhase about his MR2. Dainty feet mixing up the two left pedals and ending up with a beautiful car. This story is only starting as he and the car are getting ready for One Lap in the future.
And then waking up this morning at the hotel, taking the dog out for a walk and seeing this on a trailer next to the Airstream.
It makes 1100hp at 8400rpm. They try to keep it above 8000rpm for the full 20 seconds it takes to make a winning pull. The rear suspension is solid, the front has some travel, but on arms that are so long that they terminate above the rear axle. Open pits at the races, sitting kids in the seat, walking the track to feel the dirt. I only had a half hour to chat but I could have talked to the guy all day.

I love wandering and meeting people and listening to stories.

I read somewhere in a Binder forum about converting the stock intake manifold to multi point FI, there are logical places for the injector holes.

Why does my brain object to the rear tie-down on this rig

I don't see it doing much unless the truck just want to jump straight up.

Shame, I always wanted to build one of these.
