Amen. My best source of information was a crusty old guy that ran a mopar junkyard on the other side of the city. He hated most people but took a shining to me.

Some pics of the rims. I just started the restoration of them today.

Nice score, especially for the price! Body color or other? I vote body color.

Fantastic score on those wheels, they're going to look great on your ride. You're lucky that the chrome isn't pitted and rusty.

I'd put some duct tape over the back of the lug holes to create a little 'cup' then pour some of this stuff in.

weirdly enough, this stuff actually works...

Let it sit for about an hour, then rinse it off good. mask the chrome off and hit it with a rattle can of your colour choice and you'll be in business.

actually, I wrapped sandpaper around a pencil to take the rust off of the lug holes. But I might just pick up some evap-o-rust.

I'll vote for gold as well! I just read through your thread; it's good to see that you're so into getting your hands dirty at your age! (Or any age, for that matter) My son's 15 as well; he's somewhat interested in cars, but needs some prodding to dive into working on things.

Thanks! What's even crazier is that nobody in my family knows much about cars other than keep gas in them, wash them, and change the oil.

That alone puts them in the minority! Especially the change the oil part.

+1 for dropping the tank. If you think before you act you can do it without spilling. If you're worr, you can drop a tarp or something down first. I'd also take zombywolf up on his offer, learn from some experience doing that same task.

Yes, definitely take zombywolf up on his offer!
Tell your grandma that you're better off working on cars and dumping gas on the floor than playing COD or whatever until 4am. If you do play COD til 0400, admit nothing; she probably went to bed at 9 anyway.

Ha. This was my filter on the Camaro I had after I bought it.

Looks pretty warm and dry in that nice uncluttered garage there. Plenty of room for a space heater in there...

I apologize. I mocked up the gold rims in Photoshop, and they didn't quite work. I decided to run a B&W filter and darkening to see if grey was better. lo and behold, it was. I am going against forum advice and painting my rims grey. I'm sorry.

Side-by side comparo of bright gold rims, bronze rims, and grey rims.
