Wow--you'd be stunned at what roams the roads of New England.

I picked these up in Topeka, Kansas today for 50 bucks. Adding them to the build thread because I will likely use them for RallyX tires

I made it off the waiting list for the May RallyX. Hopefully I can get the fart pipe replaced before the event.

I haven't decided if I want to stick the gravel tires I have on the CRX wheels I picked up in Kansas or the DelSol wheels I grabbed. The DeSol wheels had already had the previous paint job removed so I gave them a couple light coats tonight.

Over the weekend I got my used rally tires mounted

While pressure washing it some of that sweet spray paint the previous owner used washed off. Further proof that this will be the perfect car to try the 50 dollar roll on paint job with.

Here it is after the bath.

One of the other projects this weekend was getting the side skirts on. After removing the body kit I put some duct tape over the holes to keep the mud from my dirt road from filling up the rockers. Swanky!

I picked up some side skirts from the local street ricer forum. They were supposed to be off a hatch but they must be off a coupe. They are a little long.

I broke out the old PVC saw and cut them to length until I can find the right ones.

Close enough for now!

I may still have some stock hatch sideskirts sitting in a buddy's garage. I'll look around to see if they're there, if they are, you can have them.

That would be awesome. Turns out my wanted ad on Xceed got me a four door set and this coupe set.

Well, on my way to the Detroit region Thistle Hill RallyX, I popped a head gasket. Im currently sitting at a Park n Ride letting the steam stop.

Guess I am swapping Barney's motor over sooner than I thought.

I used some of the time I would have been having fun to pull the motor out of Barney. I want to get the parts I need off it and send it to the scrapper to make room in the shop for the Hooptie.

As I mentioned before, I think thr hooptie is a good car to try the 50 dollar roll on paint job. I thought I would practice on a piece of Barney so I pulled a fender. I know i should have removed the stripes but I figured it was more about practicing technique and seeing a finished project. Anyway, here is coat #1 of the test.

Its been about 4 months. The car has been sitting with a blown head gasket while I spent the summer clearing and building pasture for the horses. What car time I have had was dedicated to getting my YJ buttoned up.

I finished my test fender with the roll on paint job. While the results were satisfactory, I dont think I will have time to do a full car and spraying looks to be the better option.

Today marked a return to the Hooptie. I pulled it away from its corner in the garage and got it on stands. The wife gave me a hand and we yanked the motor out of it. I dont know when I will get the B18B1 dropped in but hopefully in the next month or so.

Engine hasn't been dropped in yet, but it is ready. I put a different trans on it (replaced a grinding b16 one with a supposed to be good ls one) and its on the hoist ready to go

I dropped the motor in and found out the previous owner must have doctored it somehow. It didnt smoke when I brought it home but after an oil change it smokes like my grandmother did during her 3 pack a day routine when I was a kid. There is almost 100 psi diff between dry and wet compression tests. However that isnt stopping me from taking it to the Detroit region rallyx tomorrow. Gonna see if it holds together. Then I will likely put it away for awhile so I can focus on my Wrangler.

A pic worthy of craigslist.....

Had some drivability issues but that didnt stop me and a buddy that shared driving duties from setting the slowest times of the day. We were 80+ seconds back from first. We also slaughtered cones.

Not sure it would have passed tech without a cage.

Its painted white and you can see pieces of it in a couple of those pics.

I sprayed off the fire extinguisher residue and stuck it in the shop. Im going to take a few days off before I try and fully assess the damage.
