Picked up some gas lifts for the truck cap's rear window today. Hopefully I'll be installing them tomorrow. As for the mirror, it's cleared customs, but hasn't updated since then.

Gas struts are half-in. For the other end of each, I'll either need a stepped drill bit, or to make some sheetmetal brackets. Guess what I'm doing this evening
Well, I need to buy a bigger drill bit to drill out the sheetmetal brackets to fit the ball ends. Otherwise, I received the new mirror glass from Rock Auto, stuck it on, and took the truck out for a fuel run this evening to put half a tank of gas in it. It's really, really loud, which I enjoy very much . Brakes are good, suspension is good, the pitman and idler arms will need to be replaced in a bit because there is a noticeable dead spot in the steering, and it pulls like it's got a mild cam in it. Next steps? Well, I'm going to lubricate the throttle linkage as it's a bit on the stiff side, as well as finish those brackets, fix the steering, and do some basic maintenance. Otherwise? It seems to be smooth sailing from here on out.
I had n '89 with what I thought was a stiff throttle, until I used a different foot position on the pedal. if you are using your toe at the middle of it, it will feel stiff. Put your heel at the base, toes all the way at the top and use your ankle. Sounds odd, but it works once you get used to it.
Tried restoring my headlights with toothpaste for E36 M3s and giggles. Before:
And after:
Much less oxidized. I'll probably restore it properly in the near future, just because I'm vain .
Update: Since I've been busy with a friend's project (1991 Mercedes 500SL), I haven't had much time to work on the truck. Fortunately, I don't need to do much. I'll be changing the oil later this week, as well as getting around to painting the wheels. Also, I'm ordering my pitman and idler arms tonight, so they will hopefully be installed late next week. Otherwise, it's pretty well mint.
I picked up two cans of Powerfist black the other day. I think it came out rather well. Otherwise, I've changed the oil, the coolant, the power steering fluid, and the diff oil, replaced the rad cap and thermostat, and waxed it. I found out that the steering play is actually due to chronically underinflated tires (whoops), so I fixed that too. Otherwise, she's mint.
Time for an update!
I wired in my new Alpines and new-to-me Kenwood Excelon deck, and re-routed the USB and AUX connectors to the ashtray compartment.
Next, I sealed the cap up with GE silicone II.
I then broke out the cutoff wheel and the sawzall, and cut a hole in the topper to fit my roof vent - don't worry, I've fastened it down properly since the photo was taken.
Finally, I inflated my new air mattress, and threw in some carpet and camping gear I bought at various thrift stores.
She's now ready for the summer!
In reply to Woody:
I like that idea. I know from my college days that a thickish (3" or so) foam mattress topper, when placed down on something flat and hard like a floor or plywood sheet, makes for a very comfortable sleeping experience without taking up precious truck bed volume.
