Before I get this party started does anyone have tips or tricks swapping an LS into these throttle cable actuated trucks. I do not recall if the 99/2000 LS trucks are Cable throttle?, so it's probably just a matter of correct throttle cable. I have done several 4.8/5.3/6.0 installs but usually LS for LS or TB type staying with truck. Help narrowing down donors is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

In reply to AhBNormal :

Silverado/Tahoe/Suburban and their badge engineered variants were DBC (drive by cable) until 2003, the Express/Savanna Van was DBC until 2007. Anything in that range is probably the best if you are looking for a full drop out or yard pull.  VATS is pretty easy to pull off with PCM Hammer or Universal Patcher and then you just need a $40 cable to plug into the ODB2 port.

Interesting! I guess I've mostly been in the DBW pool all these years without realizing such. My impression was that the DBC was the rarer type AND that it only persisted into the 21st century on the 4.3 bent 6's. Apparently that is a mis-impression on my part. Thank You for that further clairfication!

My victim is a running and driving 2000 C1500 w/5 speed. So my list is probably, my choice of LS with proper pre 2003 sensors, Engine harness, computer, fan, fan shroud and V-8 fuel lines? Add Clutch kit, plus new flywheel with bolts for V-8. (P/S pump and A/C as needed) Throwing new Y- pipe, belt, plugs, water pump, hoses and probably a new rad at it as well, unless the 6 Y-pipe fits? . I will likely be picking prettiest starter out of the discard pile along with air inlet bits. Thanks again!.
