I've got that same eyeball shift knob in me 72 chevy wrecker.
I'd love to see how this develops into a track car. I've seen these zooming around VIR and they seem to handle pretty good.
Very nice. You should eventually do what my buddy did: turn it into a (barely) street-legal FR500S clone.
Definitely interested. I've been thinking lately that a 2005+ Mustang would make a good HPDE car.
I'd love to have a dedicated track S197.
Following w/ interest.
I'm concurrently working on this thing to get it back to normal operating condition. Sitting for a long time has taken it's toll. I have both power seats working again, the windows are fully functional again (they wouldn't close all the way-think due to the dead battery). A lot of the trim pieces on the exterior need to be refurbed as well as the interior. So I've been doing that the past few days. The biggest hurdle I have exterior wise are: getting the glue from the door rain visors that were on the car off and fixing the big shopping cart ding in the back. I might do a small re-spray just because there are areas all over that need work. Stupid for a track rat but I at least want it to look complete.
Not huge track upgrades but I have Hawk HP Plus pads on the way along with brand new rotors. Brakes are warped and pads are low so this is a cheap/easy thing to get knocked out. I also ordered new door trim pieces (where the leather falls off) and a new shift boot (current one has a tear). Next on the plate is wheels/tires and the ford racing suspension package.
Threw on some Centric Blank rotors and Hawk HPS pads. Also painted the front calipers red. They were dingy with brake dust and even after about an hour of scrubbing with brake cleaner and a scuff pad I still couldn't get them to look as nice as I would. Also got rid of all this nasty trim adhesive from the rain visors.
You can see that the car had been sitting for a while just by how the brakes looked.
Nasty stuff left behind from visors.
Starting on paint work tomorrow. Once that's done. Track stuff will start.
Those windows have a "relearn" feature that is sometimes necessary. It should be listed in the owners' manual.

Yea I figured it out. Roll all the way up hold for 2 seconds, go all the way down then it worked.
What is that tool in your drill to remove the adhesive specifically? 3M part number?
