The pistons show some wear on the skirts and one took an unfortunate swan dive out of the engine block bending a skirt...
I think I'm looking for between 250 and 300 hp.
Good to know about the oil pump issue. Is the Melling 10554 what I should be looking at?

A decent cam, vortec truck heads and matching edelbrock intake manifold, 750cfm carb and long tube headers will get you around 400hp at the crank. Not sure what you have to do if you keep the TBI though. Hot Rod did a similar build on a Gen 1 small block back in ‘99 and made 400 hp at the crank for around $1,000 or so. Now days the tab will be around $1,900.
