its hot as hell so i didnt get much done but this alone makes me happy

from that, to this.

hopefully get the carpet, headliner, and maybe front seat swapped this weekend. unsure if i want to use the split bench of hunt for buckets.

well managed to get a bit done before it started spitting rain, garage isnt big enough for both wagons!

after 2 years of this.

managed to get these out without tearing them

that made me happy since its like 88 and 95% humidity out.

ive never been so happy for doing something that didnt involve more power or less weight. only issue is my 78 doesnt have the front dome light and i couldnt find the bolts for my mirrors. Bad news is the 85 has a bit more floorpan rust the i seen when i picked it up. put it over the pit at work today to give it a good inspection and some fresh fluids. likely wont use the carpet from it as its nasty on the bottom. Next weekend im doing brakelines and exhaust on the white car then hunting for some rear tires for winter!

Use the carpet anyway. Nasty carpet is better than bare metal any day.

thats what my wife thinks too so it most likely will happen. ill just have too patch the floor in the white one since i do plan to drive it in the winter.

well mostly been working on my parents 03 beetle but in between that and the rain my project has been doing immature yet amusing things like this.

But ill eventually get around to finishing the interior swap!

New headliner and seats look crazy good.

Feels like a bit of a waste of your new winter beater to not do something crazy to it now that you've stripped the interior.

amazingly i have yet to break anything and its been too hectic to finish the interior. its been a good summer for the car so far! Tomorrows goal is get the back wheels swapped on the white car so i can move it. the joe dirt chromies rub on it because the suspension is shot!

Well because i hate having practical things i decided to trade my DD for a much better IMO DD. The white wagon will either get sold or be parted out and ill drive the new daily year round. The big plus for the new daily is the tow hitch and cackly side exit exhaust!

have to replace about 18 inches of fuel line but its otherwise ready to drive. 81 chevy thats no longer diesel but im keeping the badges anyway. I still have the 78 wagon, its not technically my daily!

well because i cant make up my mind and apparently people like them the big chevy may be gone wensday. In wagon news i had to fix an issue with my odometer/speedometer. one of the little gears randomly popped out right as the car rolled over 10k on the odo. Nothing photo worthy, with the wife on medical leave ive had to cut back on spending on dumb things to pretty much zero. Hoping to have the white wagon parted before october!

so with the car coming off the road in 3 days for the winter ive been making a list of things needed to be done before next spring rolls around. a summer of daily use and occasional beatings have found a few flaws. But number one priority is going to be finish getting the surface rust spots sanded and primed. Car needs a permanent solution for the rear brake line, new struts and ill likely convert to the newer style spindles and brakes off the white wagon. power steering leak fixed, the carpet and split bench actually put in and sunvisors. Valve cover gasket and a new fitting set for the aftermarket oil pressure gauge. only leaks other then the small power steering leak!

So i traded the truck for some cash and beat up 94 accord with a crapload of mileage. Junkyard motor and a bunch of brand new front end parts, just have to figure out why its ripping brand new axles apart on tight right turns. My wife thinks i have a problem keeping a reliable vehicle...

tucked away out of the weather, will likely roll it out when its warm enough to sand, and sand. i need a bigger garage.

You seem to have the same unhealthy love as me. It makes me sad that the white one is too far gone to be worth saving. It still runs great.

Its 60 degrees out today so i pulled it out of the garage and other then an empty power steering pump it runs great. Topped off the fluid and went for a joy ride.

After the issues with my truck it was just nice to drive it. Boring update but ill fix the leak and drive it again all summer.

the power steering leak is the return hose. The feed and return have apparently been rubbing against each other since before i owned it. Wore a hole in it.

New line wont be in until thursday. Ill change it saturday and maybe remember a photo or 3 so this isnt as boring.

That dude really made 700HP on a stock internals 5.3 with a Chinese turbo? Is it fair to ask how many times it can make that power before something catastrophic occurs? I know LSx's are good, but...damn.

They'll last at that level for practically forever, barely getting warmed up. Remember, forged-steel crank and cross-bolted main caps, these things are beefy. Hell, I saw 4.8L rods and crank hold up to dozens of pulls at 1300+hp and 40psi of boost.
