So todays adventure took me to LKQ for used wiper bushings, and auto zone for a reman wiper motor....also a local scrap steel yard where I picked up an old millwaukee 18V saw for cheap (I convert them to run on ryobi batteries when I get bored)

On a side note ...if photo bucket ever works I will upload pics ...grrrr!

I was shocked by 2 things...1 AZ had my old wiper mtr in stock, and 2 the wiper bushings are still the same from 80-95/97 F series...

Amazon had a cheap replacement set of bushings, but looked like they were just nylon...thought the original s would hold up better with the steel inner..

So I grabbed enough parts to put me 83 and 81 back together Better bushings and arms..

Pics to come as soon as PB works...

Now if the rain stops in an hour or 2 I will put it back together....

Also last night I got the heat/vent/defrost selector working correctly....found out I had connected the vac line to the wrong port on the TBI

I'm not shocked. For one, Ford made tens of millions of vehicles that used that wiper motor, and two, people who own old trucks tend to be the handy sort, who fix things themselves.

Wiper mtr is different, linkage is nearly the same...sad thing is the reman mtr runs but wont park...grrr...might need to upgrade to the 95 series mtr

What a bummer...after doing a lil testing theres pwr to the park limit switch, but nothing coming out...talk to AZ they got another mtr coming tomorrow..at least I know how to test it now before I install the next 1

Well now after a trip up to AZ to see if the second wiper mtr is good...lol...glad I took my multimeter, ...the first 1 the limit switch was open, 2nd was closed...so I grabbed my core and got a refund...this is what I currently have

1 mtr definitely runs...the other might run once I clean and lube some bushings, but it has some rough looking brushes... 1 has a good park limit switch the other is too short to touch the cam....

Might try to get 1 of these working for the other truck, and convert this truck to the 95 style mtr..

Crap 1 of these days I gotta work on the POS sebring again...but I like the truck more!

I just had an interesting thought after looking at the wiring diagrams.....I might kick this up a notch and try to add delay wipers using the 95 controls ...we shall see...must let my mind ponder this first

Ok, now at least I seem to have 1 fully functional unit, and 1 that runs but wont park...still think I wanna do the modern conversion on this truck and use the functional 1 on the plow truck...

We need to go to LKQ for a probe door anyway so while iam there I will get parts from an 88, and 95 and see what I can coble together

Yesterday I went to the junk yard and got a 95 wiper mtr, and 88 and 95 switches and interval modules...

First I tried to make the old 88 switch and module work on the mtr but no luck...

 photo 20170710_193204.jpg

So I tested out the 95 gear, worked like a charm

 photo 20170711_181300.jpg

Now just gotta retrofit the truck to take the 95 mtr, and cobble the end of the multi switch on to the dash in the stock location

Got my new valve stems today so I got the tires mounted:)

I had my suspicions that the rims were gonna be a lil narrow to seat the beads the easy way, so I had to use the ratchet strap to get them started..

 photo 20170712_150944.jpg

But it was smooth sailing, last tire was a little stubborn. My tire iron kept popping off..oh well, all on the truck now...

Now just hope the engine holds together till winter..lol
