Can't wait to hear how it goes
Replaced the thermostat and solved the overheating issue, d'oh.
Installed the other seat.
Fabricated and installed a rear strut brace. Man that was tough, take a piece of scrap square tube, cut and grind to fit and weld it in.
Little by little.
Ran in FWSCCA today, got put in CP and got stomped by a CP prepped Camaro.
But in reality it was a great day, 6 runs, no breakages, panhard stood up to it all, I learned what I need to improve (understeer) and exhaust leak caused lots of popping and banging. Car lacks some speed but other than high speed understeer it felt great, cornered flat and was a hoot to drive.
It was a wrestling match with the steering but it was really easy to place on track, just heavy to turn, I hit zero cones,
Improved all day as I learned the track and got confident in the car.
Coming home in 4th at 50 mph I gave it a little squeeze and the rear tires lit up, I am suspecting my cheapo tire pressure gauge has led me astray.
Any day at the track and the car can be driven home is a good one.
Thinking tire pressures had a lot to do with it, didn't mess with them at all and I'm sure they went way up with the heat on track today.
The tires are old R6s and they were not gripping really well, now I am comfortable with the set up, I can start to try to play with the little things, and if that doesn't work I may need a smaller anti sway bar or less front spring.
Less weight up front should help, I am yet to move that battery and a few more things.
Steve, I used a 6cyl. front bar on my Challenge Mustang. It really seemed to give me more front grip compared to the V8 bar.
Drove the Mustang to Findlay today, about 70 miles each way, ran great, got around 20 mpg surprisingly and didn't miss a beat. However my attempt to roll the fenders with ChandlerGTI went somewhat less than well, ended up with rusted out fenders revealing their true selves.
Back to the shop and into it.
While I was in there fixed a couple of dents in the truck lid also.
Yes, that was sad. Not messing around though you got some work done!
My girls thought your "race car" sounded good!

A big week for the Rustang
Finally added the K member brace that came with the parts vert
Speedometer cable replaced, old one was sort of ruined
Pulled the heads and found a couple of other issues.
The distributor gear was on the verge of catastophic failure, intake gaskets had failed and one head gasket had been changed out.
Further the shorty headers had cracked much worse than we had thought.
Good news is the engine is a 408, has got reliefs in the pistons, looks to have titanium rings, and has a very non stock pair of iron heads.
We managed to get the replacement 1 3/4 headers in place, and reinstall the heads.
Also installed the solid engine mounts that were in the original parts package, seeing as the engine was undone to make room for the the headers. By the way it would seem that Sean hates installing headers.
A little work on the valve covers did wonders.
Some cleanup and detailing
Oh and these were finally delivered and installed
Coming along quite well, Steve!!!
