Another Toyota "build" thread (1988 Soarer content)

Hey guys It figured it's about time i started a build thread for my Soarer. I'm the second owner of the car not including the dealership that took the car in on trade and its in extrmely good shape minus a little interior where and tear So here's the run down

1988 MZ21

-Automatic

-Factory Air suspension

-Toyota EMV (touch screen computer in dash)

-7mgte

-Special "suide" interior that i hate

-The only none OEM item on the car was the HID's and wheels,Work E-wing IV 17x8 and 17x9

And after a good cleaning and some love

I've been doing a few small interior projects over the last few weekends, like i said i hated the factory sim suede so i bought a roll of black automotive vinyl and a leather arm rest skin ...there not perfect but i thank there coming out decent.

These showed up in the mail yesterday nothing special there Tein HR's i got them off yahoo autions japan for a steal, unforunatly on is leaking oil pretty bad so i will be sending it back to tein for a rebuild but even after that i will still have less then 300$ in the set

Did a little work today, I picked up a used Apexi Intake for cheap so i installed that and re-installed my door panel

The engine bay is very dirty, so i'm thinking i might steam clean it next weekend

Love the car, though personally I would have left the suede. Cant wait to see more.

It was fake suede basically brown vinyl with a fuzzy coating sprayed on top, and it was faded and bubbling up off the doors. lol It had to go

Oh Ick. In that case yeah, ditch it. Sounds like crap velour almost.

nice ride.... an 87 was/is available in the USA right now... it is also automatic, powered by the 2.0 inline 6 - 1GGTE. I've considered it MANY times.... only real problem is I know the BS issues about rhd in the USA

There is a slow trickle of Z20's showing up in the US, but most are GZ20's. There arn't really that many issues with rocking RHD in the US as long as the car was legaly imported has all the paper work and you don't live in Cali lol

Small update

the issues I'm talking about are issues do to rhd... things like tolls, drive-thrus, I wasn't referring to Japan import legalities.

Your new exhaust reminds me of an older AE86 exhaust that was LOUD... can't remember the name off the top of my head....

Thanks guys, I have a lot of tidying up to do with the car over the winter. I need to finish the interior,install the suspension and refinish the wheels.

Sine_Qua that GZ20 is a clean example but a little over priced for a 1g-gte car.

What's the plan with this beauty?

The plain is to just upgrade a few key aspects of the car and try to keep it classy lol.

-The air suspension is getting pulled in favor of some coilovers

-The interior is going black

-I'm keeping the engine upgrades pretty simple, basic bolt-ons and a ct26 57trim upgrade (aiming for 400hp, i had a mk3 supra before with the same mods and made a little better then that)

and when i get back to the states I'm going source a R154 and do a 5-speed conversion

So i've done some work to the Soarer over the last few months and thought you guys might like an update

-Coilovers installed

-New Wheels (Ray's 2-piece GT-X Sebring's) 17x8 +37 and 17x9 +35

I had a front Caliper seize on me so i was basicly forced into installing a Big Brake Kit . It consist of Mercedes R350 13" rotors and S500 4-piston Calipers

I also scored this guy, It's a Mine's Fuel Hacker Specifically designed for the 7M, it has a plug andpay harness and a built in map sensor. How it works is it eliminates boost cut and has adjustable fueling. You pick the point you want it to activate and the other knob adjust the fuel curve. There pretty rare and where only made for about 2 years until Mine's cracked the factory ECU on these cars.

I love this! New brakes look pretty great on there, they also look HUGE haha. Need more all around pictures of the car, that thing is mint
