They were actually pretty easy. The mold contains a bunch of random stone patterns so you just rotate it as you go to make it look natural. No need to lay down sand or pebbles. I just poured directly onto dirt. I found each mold pour took about 3/4 of a bag of concrete. I just kept adding mix and water to my wheelbarrow as I went. Kinda like this generic picture.

I have a neighbor that had his son in law do it for his yard and liked it,

my fil did it and hated it, he eventually came back and poured concrete over it to hide it. (stopped halfway and gave up doing it with the mold as it stuck to the concrete all the time.)
